Passenger Bus Crashes Into Ticket Office in Nyabugogo, Injuring 11
A Yutong passenger bus crashed into a ticketing office wall in Nyabugogo, injuring 11 people in the early afternoon on Monday. The accident occurred around 12:30 PM in Kimisagara Sector, Nyabugogo Village, within the Nyarugenge District.
According to the Rwanda National Police, the bus was coming from downtown Kigali and heading toward the Nyabugogo international bus terminal when it lost control after passing the upper traffic lights near the station. The vehicle collided with other cars in front of it before ramming into the wall of a ticketing office, causing part of the building to collapse.
Fortunately, the bus was not carrying passengers at the time of the incident. However, 11 individuals—both inside and outside the building—sustained minor injuries and were immediately transported to various hospitals in Kigali for medical treatment.
Police Spokesperson for the Traffic and Road Safety Department, SP Emmanuel Kayigi, confirmed the details and added that three vehicles were also damaged in the incident. He noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash.
SP Kayigi also urged drivers to avoid distractions and strictly follow road safety regulations. "We remind all drivers to stay focused, avoid reckless driving, and respect traffic signs to prevent such accidents," he said.
