Prime Minister Dr. Ngirente Leads Graduation of 108 Senior Officers at Nyakinama Military College

 

On June 16, 2025, Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente presided over the graduation ceremony of 108 senior officers at the Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College located in Nyakinama, Musanze District. Before the ceremony, Dr. Ngirente toured the college, where he was briefed on the advanced training programs provided to military personnel. The graduating cohort included 78 officers from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), 2 from the Rwanda National Police, 2 from the Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS), and 26 international officers from 19 partner countries, including Jordan in Asia. Of the 108 graduates, 73 were awarded Master’s Degrees in security and strategic studies, reflecting Rwanda's commitment to regional and global security through advanced military education and international cooperation.

On June 16, 2025, Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente proudly presided over the prestigious graduation ceremony of 108 senior military officers at the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Command and Staff College in Nyakinama, Musanze District. This significant event underscores Rwanda’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its military capabilities, enhancing regional security, and fostering international military cooperation.

The graduation ceremony is an important milestone for both the RDF and its international partners, reflecting the growing importance of advanced military education and training in responding to today’s complex security challenges. The RDF Command and Staff College has earned a reputation as a premier institution, providing military leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage security operations and strategic initiatives.

Before the formal proceedings, Prime Minister Ngirente toured the modern facilities of the Command and Staff College, where he received a comprehensive briefing on the advanced training programs offered to military personnel. These programs focus on leadership development, security and strategic studies, crisis management, and operational planning, ensuring that officers are fully prepared to lead in diverse and dynamic environments. The Prime Minister expressed admiration for the quality of instruction and the commitment of both faculty and students to achieving excellence.



Among the graduates, 73 were awarded Master’s Degrees in security and strategic studies, an academic achievement that speaks to the high standards of the program. These degrees equip officers with a deep understanding of both theoretical frameworks and practical applications, enabling them to tackle complex security issues such as counterterrorism, peacekeeping, border security, and cyber defense.

Prime Minister Ngirente congratulated the graduates, commending their dedication, discipline, and perseverance throughout the rigorous training process. He encouraged them to apply their newly acquired skills and knowledge to promote peace, stability, and security both within Rwanda and across the broader Great Lakes region. He emphasized that their roles are vital not only for national defense but also for contributing to international peacekeeping missions and joint security initiatives.

The RDF Command and Staff College continues to play a crucial role in professional military education in Africa, contributing to the development of a skilled and strategic military leadership that can effectively respond to emerging threats. Its comprehensive curriculum and international collaborations demonstrate Rwanda’s proactive approach to fostering security, regional integration, and cooperation.

As Rwanda looks ahead, the government remains committed to investing in defense infrastructure, expanding training opportunities, and supporting military personnel. This commitment ensures that the RDF remains capable of defending national sovereignty and contributing positively to regional peace efforts.
